I have taken one step further into the underworld, the world of Internet business that is. The last post was about choosing your business, so let me tell you what I have done thus far in my journey. I have made a choice based on how much money I can afford to invest into my business each month. I am a member of GDI, or Global Domains International which only costs $10 per month. I figured this would be a good way to get my feet wet, learn the business, build up a list of of clients and leads, and then at some point down the line when I start to generate income through GDI maybe I can invest into another business that I am a bit more passionate about. Am I passionate about GDI? Well, the product is a domain name and web hosting, which is a key part of owning an online business, so that part of it certainly fits. More importantly, I am passionate about the fact that it offers a business opportunity for a very low start up and maintenance fee.

I have joined under someone who I feel is dedicated to my success as it directly reflects his own, which means there is personal help and attention from my sponsor. Without that I believe it is extremely hard to succeed in this virtual world. My sponsor has created his own system, called the Home Biz Builder, which is a system designed to help you set up your own Internet business from the ground up. Whether you have computer experience or not, the Home Biz system will help take you step by step through setting up and marketing your system.

I will definitely keep you posted as to my experience, and hopefully advancement with GDI and My Home Biz Builder

What you do know is that you want to go into business for yourself. What you might not know at this point is what shape that business will take. This might be the most crucial decision you make, so proceed with patience. Make sure that you fully research all of your options. You may feel desperate to start bring money in, but desperation can lead you down the wrong path. The first question you should ask yourself is:

What am I passionate about? If health and nutrition is what inspires you, look into companies that sell health and nutrition products. Do you love travel? Writing? Crafts? Fashion? Find what it is that excites you and explore that field. Building a business that your are passionate about is a lot easier than trying to promote a product or a program that your heart is not in.

Now you have narrowed down the field to one or two areas that truly interest and inspire you. In each of those fields, there are countless companies out there to choose from, and each have their own business plan, start up fees, company support, etc. For example, if you think starting a home travel agency is for you, find a hosting agency that offers strong agent support, licensing, and on going training. If you decide to join a network marketing company that sells health products, find a sponsor and team that provide support and training.

You have now narrowed it down to two or three companies. Conduct a thorough investigation into each of these companies. Find out how long they have been in business and what their reputation is. Make sure you are aware of all fees and policies before joining. Look over their compensation plan and make sure it works for you. Find out what their success rate is, and how much of a demand there is for their products or services. Make sure you are aware of any licensing requirements or insurance requirements for the business you chose.

Once you have made your choice, congratulations! The truth is, now the work begins. Start with a business plan and be specific. Treat your home business as you would treat any traditional business. Make a budget, schedule your time, and set goals. Make a detailed marketing plan. Be consistent, and in time your hard work will pay off.

As this blog is fairly new, I thought it necessary to give a little bit of background. This blog will serve as the foundation for my business; that is my home based business empire that I will be building from the ground up. I am in the beginning stages of building right now, which is why I want to be clear about who I am, and where I am going. I want to get it all out there. Here is the truth. I am ashamed. There is a big part of me that feels ashamed and embarrased to be doing this, network market, that is. I come from a family of very intelligent people who value education, culture, art, etc. I value those things too; more importantly I value my family. What will they think of this business venture? What will everybody I know think? Will people laugh at me? Will they think I am uncool? Because there is a huge part of me that feels like it is uncool.

Well, here’s the thing. Those are all excuses. Excuses not to try, and I know from other things in my past that if I don’t try, I can’t possibly succeed. And then not trying becomes my excuse for not succeeding, and the truth is, I want to succeed. I am determined to succeed, and I refuse to make any more excuses that might get in my way.

My life has brought me to this point. I followed the path I was shown, and here I am. I have the opportunity to start my own business. I am fortunate to have the time to spend on educating myself and planning for my new business. I find opportunity in my situation. My husband and I and our two sons moved to Mexico about nine months ago. My husband is from Mexico, and we now live with his family. I started looking for work before we left San Francisco, and continued for about six months after arrival. I finally, after six months of looking, started getting some freelance work online, and I decided that working from home would be the answer for me. The freelance work is sporadic, and while I had been searching for employment, I learned a lot about all of the business opportunities that are out there. When the work was slow, I would study the various business models and opportunities, and made a list of those that interested me. When I was finally ready to take the plunge, I enrolled in Renegade University and started my education in attraction marketing. That is where I am today; just the beginning.

I will not make any excuses. How could this be uncool? How could learning new skills and learning a new way of doing business be uncool? What is uncool about working at home and creating the freedom we are all looking for? I figure this is the only way I can create the lifestyle I have always dreamed of. I love travel. I love living in foreign countries. I can live anywhere doing this! To me, that is far from uncool; that is beautiful!

The title WordPress has given to this first, generic post, somehow still feels fitting for my purposes. Hello World! I would like to introduce myself. I have done so before, numerous times, and even in similar settings. I have not done so, however, as the proud new business owner that I am. I have not formally introduced myself to the network marketing world. Yes, that’s right, I have taken the plunge. I have entered MLM land, and I have set out to conquer network marketing, and to do that, I am studying the Attraction Marketing techniques that have changed the network marketing business model forever.

I remember when I was young, my parents joined Amway. I remember them gathering us around (there are five of us) and telling us about this new business venture; that they would be going to meetings and having meetings at the house. I remember something special about Thursdays, and that our garage started to fill up with household cleaning products and beauty products. I also remember that the family suddenly had some new friends. The buying and selling of products went on for years, as did some of the relationships they built, but like most, my parents never took their business to the next level, and certainly never found success through Amway.

It was hard to find success in the old business model. It consisted of trying to recruit everyone you knew or met, and it basically demanded that you turn into a walking advertisement for your business. I don’t know about you, but I’m not interested in becoming that person that everyone dreads running into because they know you will try to “sell” either products or your business opportunity. Even when I was a Realtor, I was shy to tell people what I did for a living because I didn’t want them to think I wanted them as a client. Perhaps I am overly sensitive about this, but the point is that authentic relationships are important to me, and I believe they should evolve organically rather then one party having an ulterior motive.

That is why attraction marketing and networking online is so brilliant. It is not only brilliant because everyone in the world is connected, but also because you can seperate your work from your personal life. You don’t have to try to signup your family and friends; instead you do your prospecting on the Internet, and later if your friends and family find value in what you are doing and see you running a successful business, they just might come to you to sign up!

My mission is to create a lifestyle of freedom that allows me to live anywhere in the world I choose, and gives me the ability to spend the majority of my time with my family. My mission is to create that lifestyle for myself and anyone who desires to follow in my footsteps.

In this blog, you can look forward to hearing more about my personal story, how and why I got started, what worked for me in creating my home based business, and what didn’t work. I will share with you the basic principles of Attraction Marketing and help you build your business through social networking online. I will share news and current events that are relevant in our business. I look forward to taking this journey with you.
