Moving Forward Without Excuses

September 22, 2009 By: Mary Category: Personal Story |

1183198_jump_for_joyAs this blog is fairly new, I thought it necessary to give a little bit of background.  This blog will serve as the foundation for my business; that is my home based business empire that I will be building from the ground up.  I am in the beginning stages of building right now, which is why I want to be clear about who I am, and where I am going.  I want to get it all out there.  Here is the truth.  I am ashamed.  There is a big part of me that feels ashamed and embarrased to be doing this, network market, that is.  I come from a family of very intelligent people who value education, culture, art, etc.  I value those things too; more importantly I value my family.  What will they think of this business venture?  What will everybody I know think?  Will people laugh at me?  Will they think I am uncool?  Because there is a huge part of me that feels like it is uncool.

Well, here’s the thing.  Those are all excuses.  Excuses not to try, and I know from other things in my past that if I don’t try, I can’t possibly succeed.  And then not trying becomes my excuse for not succeeding, and the truth is, I want to succeed.  I am determined to succeed, and I refuse to make any more excuses that might get in my way.

My life has brought me to this point.  I followed the path I was shown, and here I am.  I have the opportunity to start my own business.  I am fortunate to have the time to spend on educating myself and planning for my new business.  I find opportunity in my situation.  My husband and I and our two sons moved to Mexico about nine months ago.  My husband is from Mexico, and we now live with his family.  I started looking for work before we left San Francisco, and continued for about six months after arrival.  I finally, after six months of looking, started getting some freelance work online, and I decided that working from home would be the answer for me.  The freelance work is sporadic, and while I had been searching for employment, I learned a lot about all of the business opportunities that are out there.  When the work was slow, I would study the various business models and opportunities, and made a list of those that interested me.  When I was finally ready to take the plunge, I enrolled in Renegade University and started my education in attraction marketing.  That is where I am today; just the beginning.

I will not make any excuses.  How could this be uncool?  How could learning new skills and learning a new way of doing business be uncool?  What is uncool about working at home and creating the freedom we are all looking for?  I figure this is the only way I can create the lifestyle I have always dreamed of.  I love travel.  I love living in foreign countries.  I can live anywhere doing this!  To me, that is far from uncool; that is beautiful!

Hello world!

September 10, 2009 By: Mary Category: Personal Story |

The title WordPress has given to this first, generic  post, somehow still feels fitting for my purposes.  Hello World!  I would like to introduce myself.  I have done so before, numerous times, and even in similar settings.  I have not done so, however, as the proud new business owner that I am.  I have not formally introduced myself to the network marketing world.  Yes, that’s right, I have taken the plunge.  I have entered MLM land, and I have set out to conquer network marketing, and to do that, I am studying the Attraction Marketing techniques that have changed the network marketing business model forever.

I remember when I was young, my parents joined Amway.  I remember them gathering us around (there are five of us) and telling us about this new business venture; that they would be going to meetings and having meetings at the house.  I remember something special about Thursdays, and that our garage started to fill up with household cleaning products and beauty products.  I also remember that the family suddenly had some new friends.  The buying and selling of products went on for years, as did some of the relationships they built, but like most, my parents never took their business to the next level, and certainly never found success through Amway.

It was hard to find success in the old business model.  It consisted of trying to recruit everyone you knew or met, and it basically demanded that you turn into a walking advertisement for your business.   I don’t know about you, but I’m not interested in becoming that person that everyone dreads running into because they know you will try to “sell” either products or your business opportunity.  Even when I was a Realtor, I was shy to tell people what I did for a living because I didn’t want them to think I wanted them as a client.  Perhaps I am overly sensitive about this, but the point is that authentic relationships are important to me, and I believe they should evolve organically rather then one party having an ulterior motive.

That is why attraction marketing and networking online is so brilliant.  It is not only brilliant because everyone in the world is connected, but also because you can seperate your work from your personal life.  You don’t have to try to signup your family and friends; instead you do your prospecting on the Internet, and later if your friends and family find value in what you are doing and see you running a successful business, they just might come to you to sign up!

My mission is to create a lifestyle of freedom that allows me to live anywhere in the world I choose, and gives me the ability to spend the majority of my time with my family.  My mission is to create that lifestyle for myself and anyone who desires to follow in my footsteps.

In this blog, you can look forward to hearing more about my personal story, how and why I got started, what worked for me in creating my home based business, and what didn’t work.  I will share with you the basic principles of Attraction Marketing and help you build your business through social networking online.  I will share news and current events that are relevant in our business.  I look forward to taking this journey with you.
